Your Profile
As Commissioning Editor you will have a proven background within publishing, ideally within a commissioning based role. You will have excellent communication and project management skills, be extremely organised and work well as part of a team. You will be educated to degree level. A background in Educational/Academic Publishing would be beneficial but other areas of book publishing will also be seriously considered. Knowledge of working over Online/Reference products would also be extremely advantageous.
The Role
As Commissioning Editor you will work over the history portfolio and will ensure that the list is profitable and obtain new product signings on an annual basis. You will have a thorough understanding of the current market and the market`s needs and liaise at all levels with people in the industry to stay one step ahead. You will identify, commission and acquire new products for publication as well as negotiating terms with content and service providers. You will acquire editorial and critical support and input to guarantee commercial success for the portfolio.
